The consultation on the eco-towns draft Planning Policy Statement (PPS) closed on 30 April 2009. The final policy statement and shortlist of potential eco-towns locations was announced on 16 July 2009. The developers of the proposed eco-towns will need to put their specific proposals through the normal local planning process which will involve further public consultation on the details.
