Help the Aged very much supports the eco-town principles and, in fact, we think they should be incorporated into all new community developments to make them work for older people particularly in terms of reducing energy bills, promoting independent living solutions, offering local transport and also accessible local services which are age friendly. In fact, we think they relate to the whole definition of sustainability because what we want to do and what eco-towns are trying to do is to build communities that work for people throughout their life span, that work for different groups of people whether they be young people or older people and I think that sustainability which incorporates different age ranges is what eco-towns are about and something we very much support.
